Higdon's Late Score Salvages Tie for Icemen

* Goal With:34 Left Prevents Princeton Win

Princeton added another goal at 8:25 of the second period by Robbie Sinclair on the power play.

Harvard tied the game back at two late in the second as freshman defensemen Graham Morrell blasted a shot from the point that found its way through traffic and into the back of the net.

Overall, the defense should be credited for playing an outstanding game. Except for some lapses at the end of the first and during the second period, they showed remarkable poise, blocked shots and smartly jumped into the play. The Tigers were held to just four shots on goal during the third period.

They did this all without injured captain Jeremiah McCarthy.

"It hurt to see Jeremiah go down," Scorsune said. "We just had to elevate our game. Also, we tried to jump into the play and help the offense."

"Coach really emphasizes the little things," Higdon said. "Anytime someone blocks a shot or gets a big hit, we get a little sticker for the back of our helmets."

All told it was an aggressive game where the Crimson displayed the toughness needed to survive in the ECAC. The overtime was marked by extremely physical play and few offensive chances.

"We learn from every game," Higdon said. "This year we have guys who are a lot more excited and have a lot more confidence." TIE, 3-3 at Bright Hockey Center Princeton  0  2  1  0  --  3 Harvard  1  1  1  0  --  3
