"We never doubted that we could beat this team," Gelman said. "We played very well in the first half."
Unfortunately, Harvard could not produce the same effort over the final 20 minutes.
The Crimson was clearly up against a team with superior talent and despite playing its best half of basketball all season, the Crimson could neither handle Vanderbilt's height, nor Sam's 39 point effort.
Still, Harvard put forth its best effort and it was clear that the Crimson players and coaches, although disappointed in the result, were satisfied with their performance against the twelfth ranked team in the nation.
"Obviously, I'm disappointed," Gelman said. "But I'm proud of the way we played."
