Overseers Begin Convention

Committee Discusses Misconduct in Historical Research

One member of the governing boards told The Crimson that Rudenstine has a final candidate in mind for the job and will update the Corporation at today's meeting. The member did not say whether Rudenstine has made an offer or whether the candidate had accepted that offer.

Asked yesterday outside Loeb House about presenting a final choice at today's governing boards meeting, Rudenstine offered a cryptic response.

"I'll let you know afterwards," he said, disappearing inside the governing boards' office.

Secretary of the Governing Boards Michael W. Roberts said yesterday that approval of a dean appointment requires only the endorsement of a joint committee of appointments composed of a handful of Overseers and two Corporation members.

Last night, the Overseers held their annual party to honor outgoing members.
