Water Shutdown Hits Four Houses

River Dorms Left Dry by Sewer Project

"I brushed my teeth in Sever Hall before class," said Quincy resident Lynya A. Floyd '97.

By noon, the faucets in Old Quincy were spouting brown water at low pressure, said Jeff H. Chuang '96. Chuang said he had to go to a friend's room in New Quincy to wash.

For others, adapting to the water loss didn't pose any problems. "We just showered this morning at the gym," said Tarlin B. Ray '96 and Darren E. Rankin '96, two basketball players from Leverett House.

One dining hall worker in Winthrop House said the water loss did not affect cooking because most of the food is prepared in the basement.

Kevin Higgins, superintendent of Kirkland House, said he was thrilled to have missed out on the water loss.
