The team began showing slight improvement in the losses to Yale and Hartford, and that carried over into its last seven games, its most successful string of softball in recent memory. The team garnered victories in all but one of those contests--a 6-5 loss to Brown and closed out the season on an undeniably positive note.
"I can't say that I was particularly happy with the season, but I was happy with the end of the season," Desharnais says. "We showed a lot of improvement."
The team was led in batting by Vogt, who hit.402, Desharnais (.400),Reinhard (.396) and Lee (.374). Lee also nailed six home runs to lead the team.
On the mound, junior Elizabeth Walker amassed a 10-12 record.
"It was a good year and I think we had a lot of fun, but I think what I will remember about this team is its talent," Desharnais says. "While it might not have showed it in terms of wins and losses, it was the best team I've been on since being here. Things will get better, just wait and see."
Mark one up for the "eternal cynic."
