Crimson Power Play Edges Cornell, 5-4

Fans were going crazy and the Harvard defenders were getting tentative. Fortunately for Harvard, this hockey game lasted only 60 minutes.

"That crowd was intense," defenseman Lou Body said. "You've got to try to turn it around to your advantage--I love playing in rinks like this."

Skazyk gave up lots of rebounds in the early going, and Farrell capitalized with his first goal at 6:42 of the opening period. Cornell came back three minutes later to tie the score, 1-1.

Farrell knocked in his second goal halfway through the second period to give Harvard a 2-1 lead.

Steve Martins pushed Harvard ahead, 3-1, with his power-play goal at 11:23 of the second period.

And what looked to be the clincher for Harvard came only three seconds shy of the second-period buzzer. Gustafson took a loose puck from Big Red defenseman Steve Wilson and top-shelved it past Skazyk to make it a three-goal margin.
