Students Vote for Dean Clark To Address Commencement

Class Marshal Cameron Powell agreed, but saidthat 129 of the 291 students who wrote comments ontheir ballots asked that any demonstrations notdisrupt the ceremony.

"There was a clear trend, among both those whohad voted for Dean Clark to speak and those whohad voted against him speaking, for anyexpression of disapproval to be 'nondisruptive,''silent,' or 'symbolic,'" the class marshals saidin a memo revealing the results of the vote.

Powell said that demonstrations might involvethe wearing of an armband or the turning of one'sback during Clark's address. He also speculatedthat 100 to 200 students might refuse to accepttheir diplomas from the Dean.

Coradin, however, said protests might take amore disruptive form.

"I personally support anything that people doif that's what they believe in," Coradin said."There's been enough disruption in our lives towarrant a disruptive type of protest."
