Crusaders Fell Giardi, Down Gridders, 28-13

Sophomore QB May Miss Three Games

That is to say, once Giardi left the game, the Crimson was never the same.

"It altered everything we did after that point," Restic said. "We had to change completely. And that was unfortunate."

In the second half, the Holy Cross offense went to work on the Harvard defense. The Holy Cross offensive surge coincided with the explosion of fullback Jerome Fuller. Fuller carried 20 times in the second half for 129 yards, helped set up two touchdowns and scored another.

The Harvard offense, mean-while, struggled under the direction of junior Joel Lamb, who replaced Giardi. At the end of the third quarter, with Harvard trailing, 14-6, Restic replaced Lamb with sophomore Dave Morgan.

Morgan engineered the Crimson's second scoring drive midway through the fourth quarter, a drive that culminated in Matt Johnson's eight yard touchdown run.

The score cut the Holy Cross lead to 21-13 with just under ten minutes to play and it looked like the Crimson might be able to orchestrate a comeback.

But Scott Johnson's extra point attempt hit the left upright and Holy Cross came back to score again and ice the game. CRUSADERS, 28-13 at Soldiers Field Harvard  7  0  0  6--13 Holy Cross  0  7  7  14--28
