So Hughes--and his blueline backup--breathedeasy for just a second in the third period, andjunior Jim Goerz slipped a slapshot into the shortside of the net.

But one goal allowed seems like a small payofffor the scoring contributed by the defense.

Carone netted a pair of goals and an assist,and has nine points on the season. The KevanMelrose-Scott McCormack tandem set up a Tod Hartjegoal in the second period. And Caplan's assist onPaul Howley's third-period goal made him the23rd--and last--Crimson iceman to join the scoringranks.

"It's kind of been a little weight on myshoulders," said Caplan of his scoreless situationheading into yesterday's game. "It's been on mymind, and people kind of like to tease you alittle in the locker room."

No one's teasing the Crimson these days.
