Women's Squash

The Harvard women's squash team destroyed both Penn (9-0) and Princeton (8-2) at Hemenway Gym this weekend, upping its record to 5-0 in its last home matches of the season.

The long layoff for finals did not seem to have hurt the powerful Crimson at all, as the squad had played challenge matches through exam period.

Saturday, the Crimson whipped the Quakers in less than 30 minutes to notch its second consecutive shutout.

Yesterday, a packed crowed of 70 was on hand to watch the Crimson--playing without the services of its regular number-two player, Ingrid Boyum--demolish the Tigers.

The most exciting match of the afternoon was the battle between number-one seeds Diana Edge and Demer Holleran. The pair swapped victories until the Crimson's Edge finally captured the final round for a 3-2 triumph.

Men's Squash

The Harvard men's squash team grabbed another victory Saturday in Hanover, N.H., thrashing Dartmouth, 9-0. The win--the squad's second shutout in three days--boosted the raquetmen's record to 6-0.

The Crimson's play was enough to turn the Big Green green with envy. Seventeen of the Harvard players who made the trek to Hanover came out undefeated, beating their opponents 3-0. Only a 3-1 victory by Harvard's Jack Colborne marred a perfect Crimson performance.

"We knew Darthmouth wouldn't push us very hard," Co-Captain Dave Segal said.

Men's Volleyball

The Harvard men's volleyball squad lost its first two matches but finished on a winning note in Saturday's tournament at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J.

In a tournament that featured volleyball powerhouses Ohio State, Penn State, and two-year defending East Coast champion George Mason University, the Crimson spikers--in only their second, third, and fourth matches of the young season--fell to East Stroudsburg and Rutgers University before disposing of Springfield College.

Trying to atone for last Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Dartmouth, Harvard instead suffered its second defeat of the year, 15-5, 15-5, at the hands of Stroudsburg.

Rutgers, too, walloped the inexperienced Crimson, 15-2, 15-9.
