Northeastern 3, Harvard 0, and a lot of long faces graced the Harvard bench.
With less than two minutes to go in the period, Rice's fellow first-line wing Lisa Sylvia showed a little stickhandling ability of her own, notching an unassisted tally at 13:08.
"We were tight and a little overwhelmed out there," Harvard Coach John Dooley said of his squad's first period performance.
The Crimson's offense didn't pick up much in the second and third periods, but its defense solidified around the robust play of White, who stopped all but three of the final 23 Huskie blasts.
When it was all over, the icewomen could find a few bright spots in their performance. "We played two really good periods," Sasner said, "which is really going to help us Saturday at Cornell."
"We were favored," MacCleod said, "But Harvard gave us a really good game.
"For the sport of women's hockey, with television here, we wanted a good game," MacCleod added. Huskies, 7-0 at Mathews Arena Harvard 0-0-0--0 Northeastern 4-1-2--7
