Boston's Big Three of Robert Parish, Kevin McHale and Larry Bird may be too much for Isaiah Thomas and his Detroit crew right now, but the Celtics have a lot of respect for the Pistons.

"The Pistons played us as tough as anyone this year," veteran M. L. Carr said yesterday after the Celtics battled to a 137-134 overtime victory over Detroit.

"They are a good young club and if they can stay healthy they'll cause a lot of problems for the opposition." Parish said. "I think the difference between our club and them now is depth. We can run a lot of people at them."

Parish scored a season-high 36 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. McHale hit for a career-high 33-points and had 13 rebounds and Bird chipped in with 28 points and 19 rebounds.

That was too much for Thomas, who had 36 points and 11 assists, to overcome as the Celtics earned their ninth victory in a row and pushed their record to 38-9, the best in the National Basketball Association.
