"I think it was responsible for the disappearance of several sophomores last year," Seifeddine added.
But for most of the students on the clean-up crew, this week will be only the first of many they will spend in the cleaning corps.
The vast majority of the fall workers will probably be cleaning bathrooms or emptying trash for dorm crew throughout the rest of the school rear, said Martin H. Homer, director of student employment.
Homer added that the fall clean-up is particularly lucrative for participants. Most of the fall workers are on financial aid and their wages from the clean-up are not counted against their financial aid earnings ceilings.
Looking Ahead
In general, the students said that they are looking forward to the upcoming week, but are sorry that there will be so many people.
Said Stearns, "Because we've been such a small, close-knit group, in just a few hours we were able to get beyond the 'hi-what's-your-name-where-are-you-from' level of conversation."
"Freshman week there will be so many people that I don't know if I'll be able to do that," he added.
