"I was supposed to clear a guy out, take a guy with me deep," Madden said, explaining that the pass was intended for a split end running a curl pattern. "All of them sucked up on that one guy. In that situation you just hope for the best."
George Sorbara capped the go-ahead drive with a three-yard touchdown run with 3:31 remaining in the game.
JV Squad Topples Bulldogs
Harvard's JV team had an easier time of it, scoring a 21-6 victory over the Elis on an adjacent field yesterday in New Haven.
After spotting Yale, six points, Harvard took the lead midway through the second quarter after a 15-yard Eric Fee bootleg moved the ball to the Yale one and Jim Lowe took it over from there.
In the third quarter. Chris Ridout broke away for a 55-yard touchdown run over the middle. Quarterback Tony DiCesare added the last Harvard touchdown on the quarterback sneak.
