Billy Martin answered the call of his old time nemesis yesterday, and agreed to manage George Steinbrenner's New York Yankees for the third time.

Both Martin and Steinbrenner vowed this time would be different than the first two, when Martin was once fired and once resigned under pressure.

Sources close to both the Yankees and Martin said the new manager, who was fired by the Oakland A's last October, would receive about $500,000 per year for five years, making him the highest-paid manager in baseball.
