Plagiarism Case

PRINCETON, N.J.--A New Jersey court, of appeals recently upheld a lower court's ruling that supported Princeton University's decision to withhold the diploma of a student found guilty of plagiarism.

Gabrielle Napolitano, a senior at Princeton last year, was found guilty of plagiarism by a university committee on discipline and sued the university over its decision to deny her a diploma for one year.

Her request for the right to graduate and for an unspecified sum in compensatory and punitive damages was rejected by Judge William Drier last June, the Chronicle of Higher Education reported this week.
