Yale Dean Runs for Governor

NEW HAVEN, Conn.--William H. Donaldson, former dean of the Yale School of Organization and Management, plans to seek the Republican nomination for Governor of New York in 1982, a Manhattan GOP official said this week.

Donaldson, hired John Steele a New York political consultant, as his campaign manager. He is "very seriously considering running" for governor, Steele said, adding that a poll he conducted shows a lot of support for Donaldson.

The Manhattan Republican Chairman said this week that there is "no question" that Donaldson will run against High Carey, the current Governor.

No Candidates

No other candidates have yet officially announced their intentions to enter the race, but possible Republican candidates include Congressman Jack Kemp and Warren Anderson, State Senate Majority Leader, the Republican chairman said.

Steele said Donaldson--who served as undersecretary of State under Henry A. Kissinger '50--would appeal to moderate conservatives.
