Leaf added that doctors have an important role in defusing the nuclear arms spiral. "We're trained in order to be responsible for the health of our country," he said.
If the course is approved, it will be one of the first of its kind in the country. Herbert L. Abrams, Cook Professor of Radiology, said.
Abrams, Leaf, Muller, and John E. Mack, professor of psychiatry, created "The Health Aspects of Nuclear War," drew up the course's syllabus, and are among the many experts who plan to lecture in the program.
The elective course will include instruction in the nature of nuclear weapons, the specific medical effects of nuclear war, the psychological stress caused by the
