New Jersey 110, Boston 100
Bernard King drilled in 29 points and reserve guard Eddie Jordan hit for 23 points in the second half to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 110-100 triumph over the Boston Celtics at the Boston Garden yesterday.
The Nets, who trailed 56-55 at halftime, ran off an 18-4 spurt to take command at 73-60 early in the third quarter. Jordan hit five outside jumpers during the surge.
Boston, on the strength of Cedric Maxwell's inside work, managed to close the margin to 101-97 with 2:10 remaining in the game. But Jordan hit a lay-up and then five free throws, sandwiched around two points by Maxwell, to put the game away.
