A smile, a giggle and a stare...

"Oh, Hi...No, I'm really sorry. My grandmother is going to be in town that day and she is taking me out to dinner." Pause.

"No, I can't do it then either. Actually, I'm going to be pretty busy this week, maybe next week?"

Ross down the hall? Adrian wondered to her self. Harry from freshman week? Charlie. It had to be him. He probably thought Sunday afternoon would be a good time to catch Louise seeing as she hadn't been in Thursday night, or Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

"You're not going to believe who that was," Louise said, hanging up the phone with a look of incredible disbelief on her face. She always managed that look. Adrian thought it might have been to make her feel better about her own lack of calls, but she was never sure.

"Charlie," Adrian stated with assurance. "I forgot to tell you he called yesterday when you were out. What are you going to do about him anyway?"

"That was Martin," Louise said, ignoring Adrian's answer.

"Martin, you know, that guy we just met at brunch. God what a drip. He wants to go for coffee. What am I going to do?" Louise always had this way of sounding like she was annoyed that these guys had fallen for her. Adrian's advice to her was something along the line of telling them:

"Go for coffee with you? Are you kidding? I wouldn't be caught dead in a public restaurant with you." Actually, that might be a little harsh. Adrian really thought that Louise shouldn't ask for it in the first place, if she wasn't going to have anything to do with them anyway. But despite Louise's grumblings, it seemed to make her happy to have people calling all the time. She wanted nothing more, however, because she wasn't about to have a steady boyfriend.
