The play of veterans Kathy Batter and Julie Brynteson meshed well with the efforts of a myriad of newcomers, most notably freshwomen Sue St. Louis, Gia Johnson and Sara Fisher. The program is well on its way.

The travails of the cross country team are not really something I am that familiar with. I am somewhat familiar, however, with the knee problems of starr runner Peter Fitzsimmons. One can only hope that Fitzsimmons and the rest of Coach McCurdy's charges will open the spring season in full strength. They will have to overcome, however, the loss of Boston Marathoner Brian Dunn.

As for field hockey, I just don't know enough to comment intelligently, although that has never stopped me before.

Bring on the winter with its new basketball coach, Cleary's mixture of lettermen and members of the Kiddie Corps, a new hierarchy at the new natatorium, Peter Fuller's return to the grappling mats, another thrust by Zorro in the IAB, a win over Princeton at Hemenway and record-breaking 440's on the new track.

On second thought, just give me another beer and the Colts in the Super Bowl.
