The Rest Are Rained Out

But there Crone would be vying with Ted DeMars for the starting position. DeMars was undoubtedly the team's best runner by the end of the season, and he will be hard to displace. Not to mention Steve Harrison- the man DeMars replaced- who is also returning, and freshman whiz Nick Leone. And Chuck Krone, who was injured this year, will be returning and he may be even better than DeMars.

There is of course, the possibility of moving DcMars to fullback, but that leaves you with sophomore Steve Hall and Sid Williams, a tough and very fast transfer fullback from Drake.

Hall could end up on defense before it's all over, and Harrison and Leone may well find themselves battling one another for Freeman's split end position. As for tight end, senior Steve Zakula, who broke his arm early in the season, is taking the year off so he can come back and take Varney's place.

Even the offensive line is overloaded, with only Honick departing and several backup linemen thirsting for a regular position.

Certainly, decisions will have to be made, and someone will be left out in the cold. And unless Harvard's new coach gives these problems a hard look, he could end up with a dispirited team. A bit of diplomacy, though, and the Ivy title should come easily.
