The final matches in the Men's Singles and Mixed Doubles classifications of the Summer School tennis tournament will be played this afternoon on the Soldiers Field courts.
The Men's Singles match will take place at 3 p.m. on the "center court," with R. Israel meeting Dick Holroyd. Holroyd defeated E. Senehi in the semi-final round yesterday, while Israel ousted D. Keesing earlier in the week by the score of 6-1, 6-0.
In the Mixed Doubles D. Shapere and S. Sale will meet the winner of yesterday's match--finished after the Summer News went to press--in which P. Pratt and K. Hildreth faced T. Tully and D. Bird. Today's final match will begin at 2 p.m.
The Woman's Singles champion of the 1956 Summer School session has already been decided. She is Gwynne Finkleman, who yesterday defeated Midge Sutherland to win the honor.
In the Men's Doubles, the final match was also played yesterday with D. Shapere and T. Tchen facing G. Seigel and D. Gordon. The result was not available at press time.
Earlier in the week, in the Men's Doubles semi-finals, the team of Shapere and Tchen ousted W. Deeble and K. Hill (6-1, 6-1), while Seigel and Gordon defeated M. Hall and M. Eames (6-3, 6-3).
In the Mixed Doubles, the week's earlier results include Pratt and Hildreth defeating D. Duslin and P. Marx by forfeit; Tully and Bird defeating F. and M. Keesing (7-5, 5-7, 6-4); and Shapere and Sale defeating S. Frieder and C. Flax (6-2, 6-2).
In recent rounds of the Men's Singles, Senehi defeated P. Cox by forfeit; Holroyd defeated R. Balking (6-0, 6-0), T. Tully defeated H. McLean (3-8, 8-6, 6-0), and Israel defeated D. Keesing (6-1, 6-0).
Scores of the week in the Women's Singles include G. Finkleman over M. Keesing (6-2, 6-1) and M. Sutherland over P. Marx (6-2, 6-1).
Tennis Tournament participants who have fulfilled all the tourney's requirements may pick up their deposit money at Grays Hall 1.
