Branford, Other Yale Teams Victorious in Inter-College Contests

Dudley Beaten

Silliman crushed Dudley 20 to 0. After Dudley fumbled on its own 30 on the third play of the game, John Rhinelander passed to Ed Flynn for the first touchdown. Rhinelander kicked the point. Silliman's Mal Guild capped a 30 yard march with a short smash for a touchdown, and Rhinelander again converted. Guild intercepted a pass in the final period and returned the ball for a touchdown.

Pierson College toppled Lowell, 19 to 0. At the beginning of the second period Paul Jeffries flipped a 30 yard pass to George Ellis in the end zone. Then at the start of the second half Paul Hoymann took a Jeffries handoff and dove over the line for a touchdown. Johnny Talbot added the final six pointer in the fourth quarter when he dashed 15 yards off tackle to score standing up.

Kirkland Loses

In the other game Calhoun defeated Kirkland 19 to 6. Former track star John Beni broke through for a 40 yard touchdown run in the first period. In the third quarter a 20 yard pass from Tom Skartz to Ed Moran set up a 20 yard run by Beni. Moran caught a Swartz pass for the extra point.

Beni scored his third touchdown of the day in the fourth period on a short plunge. Kirkland scored in the last minute on an eight yard drive by Bud Cramer.

In the freshman touch game, the Harvard Yard team from Weld South held, off a Yale yearling rally to win, 27 to 26. Wold took an early 20 to 6 lead over South Unit, but the Elis came roaring back and almost tied the game in the closing seconds.

In House-College soccer, Branford slipped one goal past Bellboy goalie Cliff Alexander for the only score, to win 1 to 0
