If baseball's best, Ted Williams, comes back from the Marines, some smart boys may pick the Red Sex. Which is of course nice sentiment and due a returning war here, but lacking in reality because you need pitchers in the modern version of the game.

White Sex Comers

A look at Minnie Minosa and Nellie Fox, and a little money might go with the White Sox. This is smart money, too for in a tight race this is the kind of team that can and may win.

Bobby Shantz and Harry Byrd will continue to make the Athletics a threat in any game, but not strong enough for a real bid, and Bob Porterfield can make the Senators rugged.

But the trouble is that the way they make the schedules these days, all the seven or so odd other teams have to play the Yankees 22 times, a factor that tends to keep at least part of the World Series in the Bronx.
