Shattuck, Noted Law Authority, Dies at 54

Mayor Hines was among 500 mourners at funeral services yesterday for Maye A. Shattuck '19, former president of the Massachusetts Bar Association and widely known trust expert.

In the 30 years since his graduation from the Law School, the noted civic leader had fought for judicial and statutory reforms in over 30 states. He erased to save the Boston Common along with the late John B. Hannigan, and was president of the Massachusetts Civic League.

Instructor in law at Northeastern and U. of Colorado, Shattuck revised the standard text on trusts and wrote many other works on law.

During the war, the distinguished legal authority was special assistant attorney general for Massachusetts. He also served as evacuation director of the Massachusetts Public Safety Committee.
