The Harvard University Employee Representative Association last year had a surplus of $510, Daniel G. Mulvihill, president of the union, said yesterday. A CRIMSON headline, appearing on Tuesday, erroneously stated that the union had a $1,000 deficit. The surplus was verified by a certified accountant's report.
In answer to questions by members, Mulvihill also released a preliminary accounting of the union's funds. This showed that for the first eight months of this year the union had a balance of $252. According to Mulvihill, this indicates that the balance for this year will probably be greater than last year's.
Mulvihill also attacked "malicious rumors that the union owed six months rent on the offices," saying the union had "paid its rent in advance."
