Mayor Plans No Parking Changes

Mayor Edward A. Crane last night ended rumors that the City Council planned to take new action on the Harvard Square parking problem. "As far as I'm concerned the Square situation has been adequately dealt with." He added, "The City Council does not plan to make any new changes in the immediate future."

The mayor felt that the installation of 30 new meters and the building of two parking lots, one on Massachusetts Avenue and the other at Brattle Square, have greatly eased the situation.

In addition, Crane felt that the new police box, soon to be unveiled, will improve traffic direction. A further money grant was obtained at last week's council meeting for a new loud speaking system. The speaker, to be placed in the new traffic box, will be much more powerful than the present one.
