B. Commissions

5. NAVY

a. Aviation Cadets: Single men, 18 to 26, with two years of college are eligible to apply. They must spend four years on active duty, including 18 months in Aviation Cadet training. This program is currently closed.

b. General Line Officers: Single or married men, 19 to 30, who have had two full courses in mathematics and one full course in physics may apply. Men who are draft-eligible will go on immediate active duty. Men who are not draft-eligible will go on immediate active duty.

c. Supply Corps Commissions: Open to single or married men, 19 to 80, who hold at least a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Accounting, Purchasing, Statistics, Transportation, Textile Engineering, Finance. (Note: Harvard College Economic concentrators do not qualify under these requirements. M.B.A. holders are eligible, however.) Draft status is the same as in (b) above.

d. Engineers: Those who hold a bachelor's degree in any field of engineering (including Engineering Sciences and Applied Physics) or in geology may apply. Draft-eligible men may not apply.

e. Electronics: Those who hold a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics may apply. No draft-eligible men are in this group.

f. Intelligence and Communications: These fields are swamped with applicants. No possibilities until after the first of the year (1951). Requires language knowledge area studies, or residence abroad.
