Charles J. West '50 was elected President of the Young Democrats at Harvard at a special meeting of the club last night. West succeeds William W. Oppenheim '49, who was ousted from the group in October when he chose to back Thomas E. Dewey for president.
Also chosen to serve until May were Edward P. Morrissey '49, vice-president; David M. Heer '50, secretary; Daniel A. Cronin '50, treasurer; and Eric A. Biddle '50, organizational director.
Edward F. Burke '50 and Robert J. Moore '50 were elected members-at-large to the club's executive committee. The Democrats will choose between two and four additional members of the executive committee soon after Christmas vacation.
The club set membership dues at $1.50 for the remainder of the academic year.
