America's college women have never said that the Harvard man is the perfect male but recently they labelled him the best dressed in the country's colleges.
Such is the finding of the National Youth Panel which conducted a survey of 800 coeds from more than 400 colleges on the question of the American college male's dressing habits. The girls admire a "carefully careless" look and Harvrd has it, they say.
This is preferable, according to the women, to the dungarees, odds and ends of wartime uniform, and other highly informal attire which predominate on most of the nation's campuses.
What the girls do like are the sports jackets and grey flannels common to Harvard Square and vicinity.
But even Harvard men lack the "accesories" necessary to complete their "ensembles," the coeds claimed. They think that college men should wear tie clasps, brightly colored scarves, and hats more often.
