To the Editor of the Crimson:
What outside journalists write about Harvard we can do little to control. What you as editors select for quotation concerns us all. Every Harvard man must be disturbed by the way in which, in your quotation of this morning from a Washington paper, President Conant's personal position in regard to the war was pictured as affecting the justice of his relations within the University. There is not a shred of basis for this imputation: and many would welcome it if the Crimson would express the strong feeling of Harvard on this point, since the University cannot but suffer when its president is defamed.
