Tomorrow at Franklin Field, Philadelphia relay teams of 35 eastern colleges will meet in the Penn Relays, the first intercollegiate test of track strength of the spring season. The University is sending a two-mile relay team composed of Captain A. H. O'Neil '28, F. E. Cummings '30, W. C. Peet '28, and R. P. Porter '29, who will run in the order named. T. H. Alcock '29 is also making the trip, and will compete in the hammer throw.
Last year a squad of 19 runners made the trip to Philadelphia, but Coach E. L. Farrell has adopted a training schedule for his charges which will hold all but the two-mile relay team and Alcock in Cambridge.
The races tomorrow will afford track followers their first real opportunity to see many of the eastern track performers in competition on the cinders. The results should provide some basis on which to forecast the outcome of the Intercollegiates next month The I. C. 4A. meet, the culmination of the eastern track season, is scheduled for May 25 and 26, in the Harvard Stadium. Stanford captured the western track crown again this year, and is once more expected to be the strongest I. C. 4A competitor.
