The University baseball team will play the strong Springfield College nine at 4 o'clock this afternoon on Soldiers Field provided the diamond is in condition. Today's contest, the Crimson team's seventh start of the season, promises to give the Harvard players plenty of trouble in maintaining their record unspotted by defeats at the hands of college nines.

Although the visiting team has record of three games won and five lost, it has won a reputation as a strong club, numbering Dartmouth and the Navy among its victims.

F. O. Duncan, Springfield centerfielder, is a four letter man and a captain-elect of basketball. He is a first rate hitter and an excellent fielder, so good, in fact, has his record been that there is a rumor current to the effect that Duncan has had offers from several-major league outfits.

F. B. Cutts '28 appears to be Coach F. G. Mitchell's choice to hurl for Harvard tibs afternoon, although there is a possibility that Willard Howard '28 may be on the mound when the game starts. According to present plans, however, Howard will pitch against Maine on Thursday, while J. N. Barbee '28 will take his turn at the rubber against Colgate at the end of the week.

Springfield has a strong pitching corps, and while Johnston is favored to start today's game, it is not at all impossible that Beach will be given the call over his team-mate. If Beach should be chosen to carry the Springfield hurling assignment, Putnam will replace Steeves behind the bat.
