The first public performance of "1776", this year's Hasty Pudding Show, will be given tonight at 8 o'clock in the Pudding theatre. The show opened last night to a house crowded with graduates, who were enthusiastic in their acclaim of both action and actors.
B. McK. Henry '24, in his review of the opening production, which appears on the fourth page of this issue, hails the Pudding's latest effort as "The best Hast Pudding Show since the War. Which war? Why the Revolution, of course."
He also praises the dancing of W. S. Wilson '27 as superior to any he has ever seen on an amateur stage.
After the second performance in Cambridge tomorrow night the show will start immediately on its western trip. The first stop will be on Saturday at Northampton, where the Pudding will put on its second show for the students of Smith College. When last year's play went to Northampton it was the first time a Hasty Pudding Production had ever been given at a girls' college.
Publish Western Schedule
The result of the western schedule is as follows: April 19, Buffalo; April 20, Detroit; April 21, Cleveland; April 22, Pittsburg; April 23, New York. Following the show in New York there will be dancing and a cabaret show which will include vaudeville acts by former Hasty Pudding stars, prominent among whom will be Howard Elliott Jr. '22, J. S. Moynahan '24, and J. N. Alger '22.
With the reopening of college, the show will return to Boston for a three nights' run in the Hollis Street Theatre.
The cast is composed of the following: Officers of the Continental Army: C. D. Coady '27, N. B. Lee '28, L. L. Wallingsford '28, r. P. MacFadden '26, H. B. Jackson '27, and K. D. Maun '26. Minute Men: R. H. Sanger '28, Standard Bearer, N. G. Hesse '27, Drummer, and W. C. Harris '28, Fife. Girls: M. B. Wells '28, G. W. de Rham '27, B. A. Thorndike '26, J. O. Rosencranz '27, R. S. Pruyn '27, W. W. Adams '28, and G. W. Saterthwaite '28.
