CRIMSON COMPETITIONS TO START ON MARCH 23

Candidates for News and Photographic Departments to Meet in Standish Hall Common Room--Actual Work Will Begin on Following Evening.

Although a meeting to explain the work of the coming news competition for the CRIMSON will be held on Wednesday evening, March 23, in the Standish Hall Common Room at 7 o'clock, actual work for the competitions will not start until the next evening at 7 o'clock when all the men, both Sophomores and Freshmen, will report at the Crimson Building, 14 Plympton street. At this time, the work required will be explained in detail by the heads of the departments.

In addition to Mr. Frederick L. Allen '12, Secretary to the Corporation and Melville P. Baker '22, Managing Editor of the CRIMSON, F. S. Whiteside '22, Photographic Chairman, will speak, explaining the type of work required of candidates for that department. All 1924 men at all interested in journalism are urged to attend this meeting whether or not they intend coming out for the board.

Competition Unusually Short

This competition is unusually short, lasting but ten weeks, and the candidates will be able to get started while the present 1923 competition is still running. No previous journalistic experience is necessary to qualify for the news department for both the news gathering and press room work can be learned in a short time. Although the competitions are run on a point basis, election to the board will be based not only on credits received but on the general value of the candidates to the paper.
