Horween Dislocates Collar Bone.
On the next play Horween was hurt and taken out of the game with a dislocated collar-bone, which will keep him on the side-lines until the Princeton game. His place was taken by A. D. Hamilton '21. An incompleted forward pass on third down forced Humphrey to punt.
Brown carried the ball out to the 20-yard line from a touchdown. After Havemeyer downed Fox for a loss Armstrong punted.
Soon Murray attempted another pass to Steele, which missed his hands by an inch. It was Brown's ball on downs on her 36-yard line. Shupert tore ahead 22 yards until nailed by Humphrey, but Brooks' fumble was recovered by Steele at this point. A. Horween was put in for Casey and carried the ball in successive rushes to the 10-yard line, making first down. When all seemed sure for a second score the Whistle ended the half.
Second Half.
Brown received Harvard's kick-off on her 25-yard line. From here Fox drove his team down the field by a series of brilliant criss-cross plays, Fox, Shupert and Armstrong carrying the ball. At the University 25-yard line Brown was set back by an offside penalty. A Brooks to Albright pass netted eight yards. Two more frantic rushes were stopped for no gain. Fox unsuccessfully drop-kicked from the 30-yard line. Humphrey out-punted Armstrong, thus advancing the ball to the Brown 25 yard line by the end of the quarter.
A. Horween opened play in the last period by carrying the ball in two rushes through the line to the 18-yard mark. Two more plays and a pass from Murray to Steele resulted in no gain. A drop-kick from the 28-yard line by Murray also failed. W. B. Felton Occ. took Murray's place as pilot. In the punts following Humphrey out-kicked Armstrong. The University obtained possession of the ball again on the enemy 34-yard line. Steele reeled off an end-around play for a gain of 16 yards. Humphrey made two more. The next play Williams, the dusky Brown end, tore through the line and pulled down Humphrey for a 12-yard loss. As it was fourth down, Felton attempted a field-goal, but missed.
Double Lateral Pass Called Back.
When the University once more obtained possession of the ball in midfield Felton piloted the team to the 25-yard line. An end-around play by Ryan, plunges by A. Horween and a slide-off tackle by Humphrey made the 25 yards in six plays. Here a penalty for holding set Harvard back out of scoring distance.
A forward pass was intercepted by Armstrong on the 23-yard line. Three plays later Williams pulled off a double lateral pass for what looked like a touchdown. His 25-yard run was recalled by a penalty only just before the game was over.
