Yesterday afternoon the preliminary heats of the 40-yard dash, 45-yard low hurdles, 260-yard dash, and half-mile run were held on the board track on Holmes Field. A cold, piercing wind swept across the track and prevented good times. The elimination trials in the high jump, 16-pound shot-put, and 12-pound novice shot-put were held in the Gymnasium, eight men qualifying in each event.
