The annual winter track carnival will be held in the Hemenway Gymnasium on Mach 5 and 6. The purpose of this carnival is to give every member of the University a chance to compete, and the arrangements have been made accordingly. The cups which will be given for first and second places will be on exhibition in Leavitt & Peirce's next week.
Preliminaries will be run off on March 5, in order that only the finals and more interesting trial heats will come the following day. Besides interdormitory relay races, there will be the following events: 40-yard dash, handicap 15-foot limit; 260-yard run, novice, scratch; 45-yard high hurdles, handicap 18-foot limit; 45-yard low hurdles, handicap 15-foot limit; 2-mile cross-country run, handicap 50-seconds limit; 16-pound shot-put, handicap 6-foot limit; 12-pound shot-put, novice, scratch; high jump, handicap 6-inch limit. Special novice races have been arranged in order that new men will come out. It is essential that every man practice daily with Coaches Donovan and Quinn. After the carnival there will be no more track work until the running track on Soldiers Field is in good condition.
Dormitory relay races will be arranged between all the dormitories and the captains will be appointed later. It is hoped that at least one relay team will enter from each of the following: Beck, Brentford, Claverly, College House, Conant, Craigie, Dana, Dunster, Dunster street, Drayton, Fairfax, Foxcroft, Grays, Hampden, Thayer, Hollis, Holworthy, Holyoke, Little's Matthews, Mt. Auburn street, Perkins, Randolph, Ridgely, Russell, Stoughton, Trinity, Wadsworth, Ware, Walter Hastings, Weld, and Westmorly.
Entries for all events should be made in the blue-book at the Hemenway Gymnasium and at Leavitt & Peirce's before next Wednesday at 6 o'clock.
