BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATED

This Time by Dartmouth, with Score 31-13.--University Team Outclassed.

The University basketball team was easily defeated on Saturday night in the Gymnasium by Dartmouth, the score being 31 to 13. Except for the first few minutes of play during which Currie scored two goals, Dartmouth led throughout the game. The University team was outclassed both on offence and defence. Hedges and Brady, the Dartmouth forwards had no difficulty in breaking up the attack of the University forwards before it got well under way.

The game opened with two goals from the floor by Currie. These were at once followed by goals by Hedges and Dingle, then Brady followed with two goals in quick succession. Two goals on fouls by Brady gave Dartmouth a lead which increased throughout the game. Harvard's other scores in this half came from a basket try by Allen, and goals from fouls by Currie and Allen. The half ended with the score 15 to 5.

The second half was somewhat marred by rough playing, the referee being very backward in inflicting penalties. In the matter of scoring this half was largely a repetition of the first, Dartmouth making 16 points to the University team's 8. The Dartmouth players passed with more precision and forced the University team to resort to a defensive game. Brown, Allen, and Currie did the best work for the University team; for Dartmouth, Brady, Hedges, and Dingle excelled.
