The events which were postponed from the interscholastic games were run off on Holmes Field yesterday afternoon. The meet resulted in a victory for the English High School which won 21 points with Hopkinson a close second only two points behind. Andover got third with a total of 13 points.
The best individual work in the games was done by W. B. Boyce of Brookline High School, who won two firsts and a second. In the hammer throw he broke the record by 5 ft. 8 3-4 in., and equalled C. Brewer's record of 21 ft. 6 in. in the running broad jump. He had hard luck in the low hurdles when he fell about five yards from the finish. He was running very even with Converse and would have won second place easily. H. J. Kane of English High School also did good work in winning the 100 and 220 yards dashes, the latter in the fast time of 22 4-5 s.
The final heat of the 440-yards dash was a hot race from start to finish. Applegate, of Cambridge High and Latin School, led for the first three hundred yards, but Whitcomb, of Exeter, passed him on the turn and finished a few yards ahead, while Howe, of Worcester Academy, was a close third.
The 220-yards hurdles was the closest race of the day. Boyce led over the first seven hurdles, with Converse, Hallowell and Peter running evenly close behind. Converse then picked up and passed Boyce as he stumbled at the finish. Hallowell and Peter finished in the order named about a yard behind the winner. Converse broke the record in this race, covering the distance in 25 4-5s.,- remarkably fast time for an interscholastic meet.
Of the point winners, Hallowell, McGarrett, Mills, Rotch, Applegate, Batchelder and possibly Boyce and Whitcomb will enter Harvard next fall.
