The second half was easy for Harvard. Brown did not make any good showing this half except when Harvard would get the ball near the goal line. Then Brown held firm and forced Harvard to punt on two or three occasions.
The half opened with another of Newell's brilliant plays. Brown had the kick off. Brewer returned the kick on the first down. Newell was down on McCarthy like a flash. McCarthy fumbled, Newell got the ball and at once scored a touchdown.
From this time Harvard had everything her own way. The next touchdown was due to Brewer's kicking, aided by good defensive play of the Harvard line. After several kicks by Brewer and several ineffectual attempts by Brown to advance the ball, McCarthy being forced to punt each time, Brewer finally made a long kick to McCarthy on the Brown 5 yard line. Then McCarthy, in returning, kicked out at the 20 yard line. The three Harvard backs now began bucking Brown's centre and tackles, and in a few sharp rushes the ball was close to the line and Fairchild got a touchdown.
The last touchdown was made by more sharp work, chiefly by Brewer, aided again by good defensive work of the Harvard line. Brewer kicked on the first down; then Brown, finding rushing ineffectual, punted back. As Brewer outpunted McCarthy, the ball got pretty well into Brown's territory.
