Freshman Football.The first and second elevens played a regular game yesterday afternoon. The first eleven played as follows: Newell and Wadsworth, ends; Fuller and Seaver, tackles; Hoague and Woodward, guards; Hennen, centre; Knox, Redpath and Brown, halfbacks; Flint, quarterback; and Manning, fullback.

In the first half the first eleven scored four touchdowns, but in the second they did not score, while the second scored once.

The game with Columbia '98 will be played on Soldiers Field on Saturday afternoon. This will be the only game by which the relative strength of the Harvard and Yale freshman teams can be judged and will therefore be of much interest. Yale '98 defeated Columbia '98 by the score of 38 to 0 last Saturday.

The date for the Harvard-Yale freshman game has not yet been fixed, but it will very likely be December 1.

NEW HAVEN, CONN., NOV. 14. - The last football game Yale will play here took place this afternoon at the Yale Field. The ground was wet and soggy, but Yale rolled up a score of 48 points to nothing against the Chicago Athletic team, their opponents, scoring 36 points the first, and 12 the second half. Butterworth was the star performer of the afternoon. He made two touchdowns, after runs of 30 yards each, and kicked two goals from the field, one of which, from the 45 yard line, was the hardest ever kicked at Yale. Jerrems was tried in place of DeWitt, who will be too ill to play this fall. He made fine runs, and his playing today left the impression that he was liable to crowd Mills, who has been the favorite.

The Chicago players worked a revolving tackle continually, while Yale sent her backs around the ends for big gains. There was much punting. Butterworth outclassed his Chicago opponent two to one. Rogers showed up poorly at tackle and it may now be said that he is out of the race for a place on the Yale eleven. The Yale goal was never threatened.
