HARVARD 18; LOWELL 0.

Another game of very doubtful value for the 'varsity was played yesterday. They had everything their own way from the start, and were never called on to exert themselves. It is to the credit of the men that there was but little listlessness shown, but certainly such a game offers every temptation for loose and careless play.

Captain Frothingham had the men bat in a new order, and it worked fairly well. Abbott kept up his fine batting, making three pretty singles. Trafford found the ball again with good effect, and Hallowell got in a long home run drive. Abbott took Sullivan's place at short, but his strong point is not in handling ground balls. The other error on Harvard's score was made by Hallowell, but in justice to him it ought to be said that any ordinary fielder would have made no attempt to catch the fly. He accepted an almost impossible chance, and unluckily dropped the ball.

The Lowell team was an aggregation of old-time professionals who had lost most of their art. They made five bad errors, and found Wiggin for three hits only. Two of the hits, however, came in the fifth, and it looked something like a score, but McCarthy spoiled their chances by striking out. Mr. Mullens did not give them full satisfaction.

The score:
