Running broad jump.- Won by V. Mapes, Columbia; distance, 22 ft. 11 1-4 in.; this jump breaks all previous records, the best having been the collegiate record, 22 ft. 9 1-4 in. J. Hale, Harvard, second, 21 ft. 11 3-4 in., and Green, Harvard, third, 21 ft. 7 1-4 in.
E. D. Ryder of Yale vaulted for a record after the regular competition had closed, and made 10 ft. 9 3-4 in., beating the best previous intercollegiate record by 2 3-4 inches.
