Burgess. (q. b.) H. L. Pratt.
Lake, (l. b.) Jackson.
Gray, (r. h.) F. J. Raley
Trafford. (f. b.) G. Pra t.
J. S. Cranston, referee; G. M. Johnson of Amherst, umpire.
Amherst had the lower side of the field and the ball. She started in play with the wedge which Harvard broke well. Then Jackson and Raley were sent through the centre and between the tackles and ends, for very preceptible gains each time. The two tackles were also sent through with the ball, and before Harvard had settled down to work Amherst had the ball, on the crimson's 20 yard line.
She lost it on four downs, as Harvard woke up to the situation; and Captain Lewis' men were obliged to take the defensive. Lake and Gray took the play back to the middle of the field, and on the second down Trafford kicked, Hallowell followed it well, and, when the Amherst full back tumbled, got the ball and took it five yards nearer Amherst's goal. Lake ran through and made the touch down. Goal.
From the middle of the field Amherst could not gain, and Harvard took the play down the field again to the 25 yard line, where Trafford failed in his try for a goal from the field. Just before time was called Raley made a long run for Amherst around Hallowell's end.
In the next half Harvard had the ball and moved it steadily up the field. Gray went through the centre for the second touch down. Goal.
During the last few minutes Amherst tried in vain both her wedge play and runs around the ends. She could not gain and Harvard again took the aggressive. Trafford made the last touch down. Goal. Score, 18 to 0.
