Fact and Rumor.

The Johns Hopkins Glee and Banjo Clubs will take an extensive trip during the vacation.

H. C. Durand has given the sum of $50,000 towards a dormitory for Lake Forest University.

It is a custom at Wellesley for the sophomores to serenade the freshmen at the beginning of the year.

Cornell has received a twenty-horse power generator for the mechanical department, from Mr. Edison.

Amherst will hold a series of indoor meetings beginning January 17 and lasting till March 21. There will be 7 in all.

L. S. Thompson '92 will be unable to accompany the Glee Club on their Christmas trip because of his duties as organist of Emanuel Church, Boston. R. W. Atkinson '91 will be leader in his place. Thompson will probably join the club at Cincinnati.

At the Fencing Club last evening two contests with foils were held. First prize in the first contest was won by L. M. Greer '92, the second by W. K. Flint '91. In the second contest, first prize was won by Niles '94, second prize by Stone '94.
