Fact and Rumor.

The senior class of the College of Liberal Arts of Boston University have voted to hold no class day exercises this year, but to add a number of valuable books to the library instead.

A burlesque of the Yale-Harvard foot-ball game, on roller skates, will be given at the fourth annual masquerade ball of the New Haven City Guards, to be held soon.- Yale News.

Ex-President Andrew D. White, of Cornell, is soon to deliver a course of ten lectures at Johns Hopkins on "The Causes which led to the French Revolution."

The Yale "Lit" medal has been given to Herbert Augustin Smith, of the senior class, for his essay on "University Life." The competition for the prize has been poor of late and it has not been awarded since it was given to Pierson. '86.

The Institute of Technology will establish during the coming summer a school either in the coal regions of Pennsylvania or in the iron regions of Michigan, in order to give the students of the mining department practice in the work of the mines.

Chauncey M Depew stated at the New York Yale Alumni dinner, that there were two great institutions in this country-the United States Government and Yale College. One is struggling with a surplus, and the other is heroically struggling with a deficit.

In the article on "Volcanoes" in Scribner's Magazine for February, there will appear a translation by Prof. J. G. Crosswell, of the famous letters of the younger Pliny to Tacitus, describing the great eruption of Vesuvius in 63, A. D. It is believed that this is the best translation of these letters which has yet appeared.
