The University of Pennsylvania has rented the old depot of the Pennsylvania railroad for base-ball practice. The depot is a square, long, and 100 feet wide.

The Yale freshmen have had their measurements taken, similar to those taken by Dr. Sargent here. The average size of their chests is 84 centimetres (natural), and 89 centimetres (inflated). Forearm, 25; upper arm, 28.5.

A Chicago young lady was looking at three large photographs representing the foot-ball teams of Yale, Princeton and Harvard, for the year 1885. Her father was a Harvard man, her fiance was a Princeton man; and her fiance's father was a Yale man. After scrutinizing each picture critically, she gave as her conviction that the Princeton men were the handsomest, the Harvard men the most distinguished, and the Yale men the most enduring. - Ex.

The faculty of Cornell has issued the following proclamation: "That, for the present, attendance at recitations and lectures shall be made voluntary for students of all classes; provided that in case any student shall so neglect his work by absence or otherwise as to impair or endanger his own standing, or the scholarship of the class, he may, after due warning, with the approval of the head of the department in which the neglect occurs, and with the approval of the president of the university, be excluded from attendance in the class and from the ensuing examination.
