The thanks rendered by Dr. McKenzie yesterday morning for the fact that our lines have fallen in pleasant places seemed a hollow mockery to the shivering students.

The Prayer Petition is sent out to-day. The committee beg that all the postals may be returned whether signed or not, so that the exact proportion of men who desire the reform may be ascertained.

Cornell began this term with the Harvard system of marking and making recitations optional. It will be adopted there, if the trial proves successful. - Yale News.

The improvements in the different courses and the new numbering of them have made the old examination papers, now at the library, almost useless, except as memories of the past.

Russell, '87, is at home with scarlet fever. Butler has taken his place on the 'Varsity, which is now rowing as follows: stroke, Colony; 7, Brooks; 6, Mumford; 5, Burgess; 4, Porter; 3, Keyes; 2, Bradlee; bow, Butler; substitute, Wood.

At the election of freshman members of the Conference Committee yesterday afternoon, Messrs. Keyes and Trafford were chosen by handsome pluralities. Ropes and Parker were third and fourth respectively.

Newspaper reporters were the only persons who were at the gymnasium yesterday to attend the meeting of those wishing to form a polo club. Harvard's indifference in regard to rink polo and the reporter's hunger after news were the conspicuous features of the meeting.
